Our Tattoo Creeper project is a way to collaborate with talented artists to add their spin on our creepers. We love working with creatives in any capacity & we want to see the world from their lens. To check out more of Chelsey's work head to their Instagram

Tell us about yourself & the shoes that you customized:

My name is Chelsey! I’m 23, I live in Vancouver and I’ve been tattooing for just over three and a half years now. I wanted to put my creative spin onto my shoes and fill them out with all of the things that I love to draw!

How would you describe your art style?

I’m never too sure how to answer this question! I feel like the things that I currently draw/tattoo are like a better version of what I used to sketch in high school. I love to incorporate bold, cute, creepy, body horror and my favourite colour, pink. I usually try to take these concepts and mash them into whatever creature I’m coming up with. I just draw what feels natural!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I could make a huge list out of this but to narrow it down the biggest one would be the people and other artists I surround myself with.

What’s your typical process of coming up with a new design?

Usually, an idea pops into my head and I have a rough visual of it.  Then I try to bring it to life and just play around with it from there. Or, I’ll try to think of how I could put my own spin onto something and how to weird it right up!

What piece of yours is your all-time favorite and why?

When I was 8 years old I tried to paint a realistic portrait of my brother. It’s hilariously scary and he still has it up in his room for that exact reason. Easily, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever created but it was the first portrait I ever sat down and really tried to do. Human faces are one of my favourite things to draw so it marks the beginning of my journey into that. Of course though, I also deeply love it because it’s cursed.

What is your favorite thing about being an artist?

Being an artist is incredibly gratifying in many different ways. Specifically, since I started tattooing my favourite thing would be the all of the connections I’ve made and feeling a strong sense of community. It’s brought me together with so many wonderful likeminded people. Other tattooers, other artists and my clients.
