Our Tattoo Creeper project is a way to collaborate with talented artists to add their spin on our creepers. We love working with creatives in any capacity & we want to see the world from their lens. To check out more of Caitlin's work head to their Instagram

Tell us about yourself & the shoes that you customized:

Hello! My name is Caitlin McCarthy and I’m an artist and illustrator living in Northern California. I’ve always been interested in magic and using art as a tool to explore it. I was so excited to cast a little love spell on this pair of perfectly witchy shoes.

How would you describe your art style?

Spooky, gothic, and witchy. I like to say that my drawings are my dark and dreamy visions of the mystical and macabre.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

History, the occult, and mythology. I have a love for historical clothing, vintage illustration, and antique photography which all inspires my portraits of seers, mystics, goddesses, monsters, and witches.

What’s your typical process of coming up with a new design?

I usually get a spark of inspiration from something that I’ve been reading or learning about which inspires me to research further and gather references. After that I’ll sit and sketch and let the piece lead me.

What piece of yours is your all-time favorite and why?

My piece, The Oracle. She came to me during a dark time and inspired me to keep creating. She was my first goddess portrait and creating her unlocked a new path for me to pursue as an artist.

What is your favorite thing about being an artist?

My favorite part of being an artist is how art connects us. There’s something so incredibly powerful about creating a deeply personal piece of artwork and then hearing it has connected with someone else.
